Convert CVF to another file type
To convert your CVF file to another format, you need CPU-Z or other System software.
Convert a file to CVF
To convert other file formats to the "Hardware Verification File" file type, you need software like CPU-Z or a similar tool.
About CVF files
The .CVF extension primarily identifies the CPU-Z Validation File, a specialized binary format generated by CPU-Z to authenticate hardware specifications and overclocking records. Unlike standard documents, these files are encrypted and tamper-proof; attempting to open them in text editors like Notepad++ will result in unreadable characters. Users often struggle here because the file is not meant for local viewing but for submission to the CPUID Validator.
However, .CVF is also used for Cowon Voice Files, a legacy audio format from Cowon iAudio devices. These files are problematic because they use proprietary ADPCM encoding not supported by modern players like VLC Media Player or web browsers.
Conversion Solutions:
For Hardware Reports (CPU-Z): There is no direct conversion to readable text. To get a readable format, you must re-save the report within the CPU-Z interface as TXT or HTML. The .CVF file itself should only be uploaded to the validator.
For Audio (Cowon): Convert these immediately to MP3 or WAV to ensure playback on smartphones and computers.
For Train Simulators: Cab View Files for Microsoft Train Simulator are plain text; convert these to PDF for easy sharing or archiving.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CVF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted VCF, CSV, TXT, SAI2, JUL, CHALLENGEFILE and VVA files.

The CVF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CVF converter.
