About CUP files
The .CUP file extension is notoriously fragmented, shared across several entirely unrelated technical industries. Primarily, a .CUP file is an aviation waypoint and task file used by SeeYou, a specialized flight planning application developed by Naviter. Glider pilots and aviators use these files to store GPS coordinates, turnpoints, and competition task routing.
However, this format causes frequent user frustration because the extension is overloaded. A .CUP file can also be a PLC configuration update for HMS Networks (IXXAT), a Colibri Universal Patch firmware file, or an Angelica engine game package by Perfect World Co. Ltd. Most annoyingly, Calypso Technology uses the .CUP extension for update packages, which are actually just standard ZIP archives disguised with a different name.
The major disadvantage of the aviation .CUP format is its proprietary lock-in. You cannot natively import it into modern mobile aviation apps like ForeFlight or standard mapping tools like Google Earth. To make the data usable, you must convert .CUP to universal formats like GPX, KML, or CSV.
Standard online converters usually fail with this file because they cannot differentiate between a flight path and a firmware patch. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format - like the Calypso ZIP archive variant - we can instantly extract or inspect the internal contents.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CUP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The CUP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CUP converter.
