About CS1 files
The .CS1 file extension represents two distinct, proprietary formats used in professional hardware environments. Most commonly (approx. 29%), it functions as a Configuration File for Colorlight LED display control systems (specifically the C1 and CS series). These files store critical hardware parameters - such as screen resolution, brightness, and cascading receiver card settings - required to operate large-scale LED video walls. They are not meant to be opened by text editors but are loaded directly into the hardware using Colorlight LEDVision software.
Alternatively, in professional photography, a .CS1 file is a CaptureShop 1-Shot Raw Image created by older Sinar digital camera backs. Unlike standard JPG or PNG files, these are uncompressed, high-fidelity raw data dumps that require processing before they can be viewed or printed. A third, less common use is for Canon camera settings backups.
Common Friction Points:
Proprietary Lock-in: Colorlight files are binary-encoded for specific hardware; they cannot be "converted" to readable text or images.
Software Obsolescence: Sinar .CS1 images often require legacy versions of CaptureShop or specific plugins to open, as modern OS viewers (Windows Photos, macOS Preview) do not support them.
Large File Sizes: Sinar Raw files can be massive, making them difficult to email without converting to TIFF or JPG first.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CS1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CS1 file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Colorlight LEDVision or similar software from the "LED Controller Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to CS1, try Colorlight LEDVision or another comparable tool in the "LED Controller Configuration" category.
The CS1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CS1 converter.
