About CP1 files

A .CP1 file is most frequently a lighting fixture profile used by Sunlite control software, developed by the Nicolaudie Group. These files function as the DNA for your DMX lighting rig, defining critical channel attributes like pan, tilt, gobo rotation, and color mixing for specific hardware from brands like Eurolite. The major issue with these files is their proprietary nature; they are strictly formatted for the Sunlite ecosystem (and rebadged versions like Easy Stand Alone). You cannot simply double-click a .CP1 file to view the DMX chart in a text editor or spreadsheet. This creates significant headaches when you need to audit a lighting patch or migrate fixture definitions to a new console, as the data is locked inside the binary format.

A secondary but critical use of the .CP1 extension is as a parameter copy file for Mitsubishi Electric FR-series inverters. Generated by tools like FR Configurator2, these files store backup settings for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). Like the lighting profiles, these are industrial binary files. Engineers often face compatibility issues when trying to load parameters from an older drive generation to a newer one, or when attempting to document drive settings for compliance without having the physical device powered on.

For documentation and archiving, the best approach is to convert the readable data from these files into PDF or TXT formats. For archiving, exporting the parameter list or fixture profile to PDF is recommended to ensure you have a human-readable backup of your configuration.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CP1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EDI, CTRL, VBX, LCC and CP2 files.
