About LCC files
The .LCC extension is shared by two distinct industries, often causing confusion.
1. CNC Laser Cutting File (Industrial):
Most commonly, this is a nested machine file used by SigmaTEK SigmaNEST or Bystronic laser cutting systems. These files contain compiled toolpaths, cut sequences, and material data for specific CNC machinery.
- The Problem: These are proprietary "post-processed" files, meaning the original vector geometry (lines and arcs) has been converted into machine-specific instructions. They are not designed to be opened in standard CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- The Solution: To edit the geometry, you typically need the original source file (DXF or DWG). If you only have the .LCC, you must use the original CAM software (like BySoft or SigmaNEST) to "reverse" or export the data back to a usable vector format.
2. Leathercraft CAD Project (Hobbyist/Design):
A growing number of users encounter .LCC files as project files for Leathercraft CAD, a specialized tool for designing leather goods. These files store patterns, stitching holes, and dimensions in a JSON text format.
- The Problem: You cannot open these in general vector apps like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape directly.
- The Solution: Open the file in Leathercraft CAD (which is free) and use the "Export" function to convert your design to SVG (for laser cutters like LightBurn) or PDF (for printing patterns).
Convert.Guru analyzes your LCC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted E57, PDF, VBX, SHO, CTRL and DDC files.
The LCC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LCC converter.
