About CNB files

The .CNB file is a proprietary Compass collected data file generated by GNSS receivers and data collectors from ComNav Technology Ltd and Javad. These files store raw satellite positioning telemetry, coordinate data, and survey point attributes captured in the field. Professionals use them in land surveying, agriculture, and construction. You can process these files using the official Compass desktop software or compatible Javad processing suites. The main disadvantage of the .CNB format is its closed, binary nature. It creates strict vendor lock-in. You cannot open a .CNB file in standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or GIS applications like QGIS. Users frequently need to convert this file to share survey points with clients or import them into CAD tools. The best target formats for conversion are CSV for tabular coordinate data, TXT for raw point lists, or DXF for direct import into AutoCAD. Standard online converters almost always fail to process .CNB files because the format is undocumented and heavily protected by the manufacturer. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CNB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, SQD, VTR and BCH files.

The CNB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CNB converter.
