Convert CHG to another file type
To convert CHG Data files to another format, you need CHARGE Structural Analysis or other Data software.
Convert a file to CHG
To convert other file formats to the "Engineering Data File" file type, you need software like CHARGE Structural Analysis or a similar tool.
About CHG files
A .CHG file primarily functions as a CHARGE structural engineering load data file, though it is also utilized as a Quicken Online Data File or a Windows Net Logon File. In structural engineering, these files store complex numerical load data used to calculate stress on building materials. For financial users, it stores temporary online transaction data for the Quicken accounting software.
To interact with these files properly, you typically need specialized software such as CHARGE structural analysis software, Intuit Quicken, or the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Users often need to convert .CHG files because they are highly proprietary and useless outside their native environments. Structural engineers cannot easily share this load data with clients who do not own the expensive CHARGE software, and Quicken files require paid subscriptions to read. These files are not supported by web browsers or standard office suites.
If possible, structural data should be converted to CSV or TXT for analysis in Microsoft Excel. Quicken files are best exported natively to QFX or CSV.
Because this file format is closed and proprietary, it is notoriously difficult to open or convert. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. However, standard online converters fail because they lack the specific parsing logic for these niche formats. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can inspect the file and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CHG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CHG file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use CHARGE Structural Analysis or similar software from the "Structural Load Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to CHG, try CHARGE Structural Analysis or another comparable tool in the "Structural Load Data Storage" category.
The CHG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CHG converter.
