About QID files

The .QID file extension is most commonly associated with CabMaster Pro, a professional 3D cabinet design software. These files store intricate cabinet layouts, material lists, and manufacturing tooling data, structured using the Microsoft Compound internal file architecture. Another prevalent use is for vulnerability reports generated by Qualys, which are frequently just renamed PDF files. Additionally, the extension is utilized for Qi wireless charging test data logs (built on NET) and SunGard AvantGard or Murex treasury transaction import files.

The main disadvantage of .QID design files is their strictly proprietary nature. Sharing a CabMaster Pro layout with clients, contractors, or manufacturers who do not own a licensed copy is impossible without prior conversion. Furthermore, the specialized software requires expensive licensing, making the native format highly restrictive for cross-collaboration. Similarly, financial transaction files and raw API data dumps are difficult to parse without deploying the exact database environment they were exported from.

To solve these sharing limitations, converting .QID files to universal formats like PDF for static visual reports, or DXF and DWG for CAD layouts, is highly recommended. However, be aware that exporting a full 3D cabinet design to a 2D PDF will result in the total loss of interactive 3D rotation and exact CNC machine-tooling metadata.

Because these are closed, proprietary formats, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the geometric or financial data. Just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as a standard PDF hidden inside a Qualys report - viewing or conversion may still be successfully achieved.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QID file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted QB1, QEL and Q00 files.

The QID Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QID converter.
