The .CEBX format is a proprietary eBook file developed by Beijing Founder Apabi Technology Limited. It is extensively used in China for academic journals, digital libraries, and commercial e-books because its XML-based structure supports both fixed-layout rendering and reflowable text for complex Chinese typography.
To natively open and read these files, users must install Apabi Reader.
The primary disadvantage of the .CEBX format is its highly restrictive nature. It is proprietary and often heavily locked down with Digital Rights Management (DRM). You cannot open a .CEBX file on standard e-readers like a Kindle or Kobo, nor will standard web browsers display them. Users are forced to download a niche, region-specific application just to read a single document.
