About CEB files
A .ceb file is primarily a Chinese E-Book format developed by Founder Group for use with their proprietary Apabi Reader. Unlike universal formats like PDF or EPUB, these files are heavily encrypted and designed to strictly control copyright within the Chinese digital publishing market (Apabi D-Lib). This is often frustrating for users outside the Apabi ecosystem, as standard readers like Kindle, Apple Books, or web browsers cannot open them. A .ceb file may also be an encrypted chat backup from the Conversations XMPP client, containing message history that is not meant to be manually edited.
For eBook users, the primary goal is converting .ceb to PDF to remove proprietary restrictions and allow reading on any device. This is often best achieved by opening the file in the legacy Apabi Reader and using a virtual printer to 're-print' the content to PDF, though layout fidelity can sometimes suffer. For Conversations users, these files should not be converted but rather imported back into the application to restore chat history.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CEB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CEB file to PDF, EPUB, MOBI, AZW, AZW3, KFX, PRC, LIT, OPF, CBZ, CBR or CB7, you can use Apabi Reader or similar software from the "Secure Chinese E-Book" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert FB2, MOBI, CBT, RTF, CB7, DOCX, DJVU, AZW, CBA, PDF, DOC or EPUB files to CEB, try Apabi Reader or another comparable tool in the "Secure Chinese E-Book" category.
The CEB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CEB converter.
