Extract text from Cashbook and CamBam files (CB)

A .cb file is predominantly a Cashbook Complete accounting database (structured internally as a JetDB file) or a CamBam CAD/CAM project file (structured as XML). In niche cases, it also represents CatBoost machine learning models or Jwelly ERP database backups.
Financial users manage these files using accounting software from Reckon, while CNC machinists rely on CamBam to generate routing toolpaths.
The main disadvantage of the .cb format is severe vendor lock-in. Cashbook databases trap your business financial records inside a proprietary desktop ecosystem, making it difficult to share data with modern web browsers or cloud accountants. CamBam files are inaccessible to clients who lack specific manufacturing software. Standard online converters fail to process .cb files because the extension is highly fragmented and lacks a universal parsing standard.
For financial data, your best target format is CSV or XLSX to regain control over your spreadsheet data. For CAD projects, extracting the underlying vectors to DXF or SVG is recommended, though proprietary CNC toolpath generation data will be lost during the transition.
Because .cb is often a closed, proprietary format, third-party extraction is difficult. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data.
