About BPX files
The .BPX extension is shared by two distinct industrial file formats: Bluebeam Revu User Profiles and Bystronic Bending Exchange files.
1. Bluebeam Revu Profile: This is the most common use (approx. 43%). It acts as a container for custom application settings, including Tool Chests, hotkeys, window layouts, and display preferences. Users often export these to standardize workflows across a team.
The Problem: These files are proprietary JSON or XML structures wrapped specifically for Bluebeam Revu. You cannot simply double-click to "view" the settings in a web browser or text editor without parsing the code, and importing a BPX file into Revu immediately overwrites your current active profile - a risky move if you just wanted to check a hotkey or tool set.
2. Bystronic Bending Exchange: Used in sheet metal fabrication (approx. 17%), these are XML files containing bending process data (angles, back gauge positions, tool selection) for Bystronic press brakes.
The Problem: While technically human-readable text, the data is structured for machines (CAM), not humans. Without the BySoft software suite, visualizing the actual bend sequence or part geometry is impossible.
The Solution:
For Bluebeam: Convert to XML or TXT to inspect the profile configuration safely without overwriting your local settings.
For Bystronic: Convert to PDF to generate a printable setup sheet or CSV to analyze bending parameters in Microsoft Excel.

The BPX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BPX converter.
