Convert a file to BLW
To convert other file formats to the "Race Scoring Data" file type, you need software like Sailwave or a similar tool.
About BLW files
.BLW files serve three distinct purposes: sailing race results, GIS georeferencing, and image presets. The most common use is as a native project file for Sailwave, a popular scoring software for sailing regattas. Alternatively, in geographic information systems, a .BLW file is a plain-text World File used by software like ArcGIS Pro or Surfer to provide spatial coordinates for a corresponding raster image. A rare third use is for Black and White adjustment presets in Adobe Photoshop. The main disadvantage of .BLW files is their extreme lack of portability. Sailwave files require installing specific Windows-only desktop software just to view race scores. Similarly, GIS world files are useless if separated from their primary raster image. If you send a .BLW file to someone without the parent software, they will not be able to open it. To make this data accessible, you must convert it. For sharing sailing results online or archiving, convert .BLW to PDF or CSV. If you just need to inspect the coordinate data inside a GIS world file, convert it to TXT. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software on convert.guru.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BLW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BLW file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use Sailwave or similar software from the "Sailing Results & GIS Coordinates" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to BLW, try Sailwave or another comparable tool in the "Sailing Results & GIS Coordinates" category.
The BLW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BLW converter.
