Extract text from BHX files
To convert your BHX file to another format, you need JLR SDD or other Settings software.
To convert other file formats to the "Automotive Firmware" file type, you need software like JLR SDD or a similar tool.
The .BHX file extension primarily identifies an Automotive ECU Configuration file used by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) for vehicle diagnostics and firmware updates. These binary files contain critical mapping data for the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and are typically handled by proprietary dealership software like JLR SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics) or Pathfinder. Users often encounter these when attempting to flash vehicle firmware or analyze diagnostic logs, but they cannot be opened in standard text editors due to their proprietary binary structure and VIN-locked encryption.
A significant secondary use is the Bluebeam Hatch Pattern Set file used by Bluebeam Revu. These files store custom hatching patterns for architectural drawings and can be imported directly into the software's interface.
Less commonly, a .BHX file may be a legacy BinHex 4.0 encoded file, a text-based format historically used on Macintosh systems to encode binary data for email transmission. Unlike the JLR files, these are ASCII text files starting with the line (This file must be converted with BinHex 4.0) and can be decoded using archive utilities. For JLR files, conversion is generally not possible without dealer tools; for BinHex, you simply need to decode them to their original format (e.g., DMG, APP).
