Extract text from Tanner or karaoke data files (TDO)
To convert TDO data files to another format, you need Tanner L-Edit or other Database software.

The .TDO file format is primarily used as a Tanner Database Object by Tanner L-Edit, a popular Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software suite currently managed by Siemens. These binary design database files store complex microchip layout geometries and project parameters. Other applications also generate .TDO files, including TJ Media karaoke systems for song data, Virtual Test Drive by VI-grade for road simulation data, and BibleWorks for Translation Dictionary Objects.
Working with .TDO files is inherently challenging because they are strictly proprietary and highly specialized. You cannot open them in standard web browsers or operating systems. Attempting to view them in a text editor will only reveal scrambled, unreadable binary data. The native applications required to read them - such as Tanner EDA or Virtual Test Drive - usually require expensive commercial licenses. Additionally, TJ Media karaoke files are often encrypted or locked to specific hardware players, making them useless on a standard computer.
Because these are closed binary formats, standard online file converters completely fail to process them. You cannot easily convert a layout database or a karaoke file into a standard PDF document or JPG image. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data to an open industry standard, such as exporting Tanner layout data to a .GDSII file.
