The .BFF file extension primarily functions as a Racing Game Data Package used by Slightly Mad Studios' Madness Engine for games like Project CARS 2 and Assetto Corsa. It is also used as an e-book format for the Mantano Bookari reader, or as an installation package for the IBM AIX operating system. Users encounter severe limitations with this format because it is highly fragmented across completely different industries. Game data .BFF files are heavily encrypted, proprietary archives that can easily exceed gigabytes in size and lock away 3D assets. The Bookari e-book variant forces users into a specific reading ecosystem that is not supported by a Kindle or Apple Books.
