Convert BEACON to another file type
To convert BEACON project files to another format, you need Beacon Omni or other Game software.
Convert a file to BEACON
To convert other file formats to the "Configuration Project" file type, you need software like Beacon Omni or a similar tool.
About BEACON files
A .beacon file is a proprietary project file created by Beacon Omni, a comprehensive configuration tool for the games ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Survival Ascended. These files function as a "save state" for server administrators, storing complex logic for Loot Drops, Engrams, Creature Spawns, and Game.ini settings in a structured format (often GZIP-compressed JSON).
Users frequently encounter friction because .beacon files cannot be uploaded directly to game servers (such as Nitrado, G-Portal, or Survival Servers). The game engine (Unreal Engine) does not recognize this format. Instead, the .beacon file is meant to be the source from which you generate the actual configuration. To use these settings, you must open the file in Beacon Omni and use the "Deploy" or "Export" feature to convert the data into standard INI text files (Game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini) or raw JSON output. While the internal structure is text-based, manually editing a .beacon file without the software is prone to corruption and syntax errors.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BEACON file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BEACON file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Beacon Omni or similar software from the "ARK Server Configuration Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to BEACON, try Beacon Omni or another comparable tool in the "ARK Server Configuration Project" category.
The BEACON Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BEACON converter.
