About AUC files

The .AUC file functions as an Antimicrobial Susceptibility Configuration file, utilized primarily by the bioMérieux VITEK System. This format stores critical operational parameters, diagnostic rules, and calibration settings for automated microbial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing equipment. Laboratory technicians and IT administrators occasionally need to convert or extract these files to audit testing thresholds or integrate diagnostic equipment data into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

However, the .AUC format poses severe limitations for everyday use. It is a highly specialized, proprietary container meant strictly for a closed clinical ecosystem. Attempting to open an .AUC file in standard text editors or spreadsheet software results in unreadable output, as the data is compressed and not natively supported by standard desktop applications. The primary disadvantage of this format is its strict reliance on expensive, specialized medical software.

Internally, .AUC files are structured as standard ZIP archives. Because of this hidden structure, standard online document converters fail to process them. To access the data, the most effective solution is to convert or extract the .AUC file into a ZIP directory, which reveals the underlying XML, CSV, or plain text configuration parameters.

Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Because .AUC files are closed and proprietary, convert.guru cannot natively translate the complex biomedical algorithms they contain. However, our analysis detects the supported underlying ZIP embedded format. This means extraction, viewing, or conversion of the raw internal diagnostic data is often still possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AUC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FF3, URD and LUX files.

The AUC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AUC converter.
