About ATT000 files
The .att000 file (often seen as ATT00001.htm or ATT00001.txt) is a generic placeholder filename generated by email servers - most notably Microsoft Exchange - when they fail to properly interpret the boundaries of a message.
Typically, this is a MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) artifact. When an email contains both a formatted HTML body and a plain text version (or a digital signature/disclaimer), and the receiving email client - such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail - cannot match the headers, it dumps the extra data as a separate attachment named .att000.
The Core Problem: Users receive these files expecting a legitimate document or image, but their operating system (Windows or macOS) cannot open them. In 90% of cases, the file contains redundant text (the body of the email) or a useless server log. However, sometimes a real attachment (like a PDF or JPG) gets corrupted or renamed to .att000 due to encoding errors or overly long filenames.
The Solution: Instead of blindly renaming extensions and hoping for the best, use a converter to inspect the file header. For archival or reading, convert these files to PDF or TXT. If the file is a mislabeled image, converting to JPG restores accessibility immediately.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ATT000 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ATT000 file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Microsoft Outlook or similar software from the "Email Attachment Artifact" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The ATT000 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ATT000 converter.
