To convert other file formats to the "3D Rendering Asset" file type, you need software like Artlantis or a similar tool.

About AOM files

The .AOM file is primarily an Artlantis Object Media file, utilized by the architectural 3D rendering software Artlantis (developed by Abvent). These files store 3D objects, textures, and shader settings used to populate architectural visualizations. Alternatively, a small percentage of .AOM files function as After Effects Output Module files for Adobe After Effects, storing specific render queue settings.

The primary disadvantage of the .AOM format is its highly proprietary nature. As an Artlantis-specific asset, it is completely siloed. You cannot natively import an .AOM file into widely used 3D suites like Blender, Maya, or standard web browsers. The file is built on a specialized RIFX (Resource Interchange File Format) container that standard converters cannot parse. This vendor lock-in frustrates users who need to migrate 3D assets to other pipelines or share models with clients who lack an expensive Artlantis license.

If you need to use the 3D model elsewhere, the best conversion targets are universal formats like OBJ, FBX, or DAE. However, converting an .AOM almost always strips away proprietary shaders and lighting calculations specific to the Artlantis engine, leaving you with only the raw mesh and basic textures.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters universally fail to process it. Usually, only the original Artlantis software can properly read or export the 3D data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format within the RIFX container, partial viewing or texture extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AOM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted AEP, FFX and EXR files.

FAQ

If you want to convert AOM file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use Artlantis or similar software from the "3D Object Media Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to AOM, try Artlantis or another comparable tool in the "3D Object Media Storage" category.

The AOM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AOM converter.
