About ALZ files
The .ALZ file format is a proprietary compressed archive created by ESTsoft for their archiving software, ALZip. It functions similarly to standard ZIP or RAR files, bundling multiple files or folders into a single, smaller container to save disk space or facilitate easy internet transfers. Despite its utility in specific regions, primarily South Korea, the .ALZ format presents significant disadvantages for global users. It is a closed, proprietary format. Modern operating systems like Windows and macOS do not natively support extracting .ALZ files. This means if someone sends you an .ALZ file, your built-in tools will fail to open it. Users often face the frustrating requirement of downloading the official ALZip software or hunting for compatible third-party tools just to view the enclosed contents. Because of these compatibility walls, it is highly recommended to convert .ALZ archives into universally recognized formats like ZIP or 7Z.
