About ALZ files
The .alz file is a proprietary compressed archive created by ALZip, a compression utility developed by ESTsoft. While extremely popular in South Korea, this format often causes significant friction for international users because standard tools like WinZip or the native extractors in Windows and macOS simply cannot open it. The format was originally designed to handle large files and spanning volumes better than early ZIP implementations, but today it largely functions as a compatibility hurdle.
To access the documents, images, or software inside an .alz file without installing specific Korean software (which may contain ads or unnecessary bloat), the most pragmatic solution is conversion. For immediate access and broad compatibility, we recommend converting these archives to standard ZIP files. If you need higher compression ratios for storage, converting to 7Z is optimal.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ALZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted ZOO, A00 and A01 files.
The ALZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ALZ converter.
