About AHS files
A .AHS file is primarily an Active Health System log generated by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) ProLiant servers via the Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) management processor. These files serve as a "black box" flight recorder for servers, continuously capturing hardware telemetry, configuration changes, and error counters.
The main challenge users face is that .AHS files are proprietary, compressed binary archives that cannot be opened in standard text editors like Notepad or Excel. They are specifically designed to be uploaded to the HPE support portal or opened with the specialized HPE AHS Viewer. This proprietary lock-in makes it difficult for system administrators to perform quick, local diagnostics without navigating complex vendor portals. Users typically seek to convert these logs to human-readable formats like TXT for quick scanning, CSV for spreadsheet analysis, or PDF to generate sharable diagnostic reports for management.
In rare cases (less than 1%), a .AHS file may be an Adobe Halftone Screen file used by Adobe Photoshop to store ink dot shape and frequency settings for printing. If your file is not related to server hardware, it likely requires Adobe Creative Cloud software to view or edit.
Convert.Guru analyzes your AHS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert AHS file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use HPE iLO or similar software from the "Server Diagnostic Log" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to AHS, try HPE iLO or another comparable tool in the "Server Diagnostic Log" category.
The AHS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AHS converter.
