About AFL files
The .AFL file format usually stores an AmiBroker Formula Language script. These files contain custom trading algorithms, technical indicators, and backtesting rules used by AmiBroker financial software. A secondary use for .AFL is as an Arc Flash Label template created by SKM PowerTools, which stores label designs in an XML structure. While these files are powerful inside their native software, they are highly restricted outside of it. AmiBroker scripts require the user to own a paid software license to execute the trading logic or view the charts. SKM label templates are equally trapped; you cannot view or print the actual safety label without the expensive PowerTools suite. Since both variations of the .AFL file are basically text or code under the hood, sharing them with non-users is frustrating and limits collaboration. To bypass these software restrictions, you need to convert the files. For code review or sharing trading strategies, convert .AFL to TXT or MD.
