About ADZ files
The .ADZ file extension serves two completely different communities, but both share a secret: they are standard compressed archives in disguise.
For 78% of users, particularly in Italy, an .ADZ file is an Automotive Insurance Appraisal container used by the ANIA standard. These files act as digital envelopes sending accident data, photos, and repair estimates between mechanics, insurance adjusters, and body shops. The practical friction here is proprietary lock-in; while the file technically contains standard data (often XML and JPEG images), it is designed to only open in specific Italian appraisal software. However, because the underlying format is simply a ZIP archive, you can often bypass this restriction by renaming the file extension from .ADZ to ZIP to inspect the contents manually.
For retro-computing enthusiasts (approx. 11%), an .ADZ file is a Compressed Amiga Disk File. It is literally a standard ADF disk image that has been compressed using GZIP to save disk space. While modern emulators like WinUAE can read .ADZ files directly, older hardware or specific tools may require the uncompressed ADF format. Converting this file is as simple as decompressing it using a tool like 7-Zip.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ADZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The ADZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ADZ converter.
