About ADZ files
The .ADZ file extension represents two distinct but compressed formats: an Automotive Insurance Appraisal data file used in Italy (under the ANIA standard), and a Compressed Amiga Disk File used by retro computer emulators. The insurance variant is essentially a ZIP archive containing proprietary data exchange files for auto insurance claims. The Amiga variant is a GZIP compressed version of a standard ADF (Amiga Disk File) used to save storage space when running games or software on emulators like WinUAE. Handling .ADZ files natively is problematic. If you have an ANIA insurance file, the internal data structure is proprietary and useless without specific Italian automotive appraisal software. If you have an Amiga disk, modern operating systems cannot mount it without an emulator. Both formats share a common disadvantage: they mask a standard compression method (ZIP or GZIP) behind an obscure extension, confusing both users and software. For the Amiga disk image, the best conversion target is an uncompressed ADF file, making it compatible with a wider range of legacy tools. For the insurance archive, renaming or converting to ZIP allows you to extract the contents. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Because these files are closed or proprietary containers, standard online converters often fail to process them.
