About ADR files
The .ADR file extension is heavily fragmented. Its most common uses are legacy Opera browser bookmarks and Intuit QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery files. It is also used as an actor runtime definition file in the Forgelight game engine (such as H1Z1), and as various legacy address book databases utilizing Microsoft JetDB or older Lotus systems. These formats pose significant usability challenges. Opera bookmarks saved as .ADR originate from the deprecated Presto engine. Modern Chromium-based browsers cannot read them directly, requiring users to extract the data and convert it to standard HTML bookmark files to import their old links. QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery files are proprietary, automated backups of QBW files. They are useless outside the Intuit ecosystem and cannot be opened with standard software; they exist solely to restore corrupt accounting data. Other .ADR variants are outdated database files that require specific legacy environments to function. If you need to recover contacts, URLs, or data from these files, standard online converters will almost always fail because they cannot determine which of the many completely different .ADR structures your specific file uses.
