An .ADD file is a highly fragmented file extension primarily used as an Advantage Data Dictionary for the Advantage Database Server. However, this extension is notoriously reused by multiple disjointed systems. It can serve as an address book in legacy IBM OS/2 or WordPerfect, a standard JetDB drill head definition in Alphacam CAM software, or even a vehicle diagnostic data file in Actia ActiDiag.
The main disadvantage of the .ADD format is severe vendor lock-in and a complete lack of standardization.
