Convert ABP to another file type
To convert your ABP file to another format, you need aCar or other Backup software.
Convert a file to ABP
To convert other file formats to the "Vehicle Management Archive" file type, you need software like aCar or a similar tool.
About ABP files
The .ABP extension is a wrapper used by multiple software ecosystems, creating significant confusion for users attempting to access their data. The most common variation (31%) is a data backup generated by the aCar Android application (now part of Fuelly). While critical for restoring vehicle maintenance logs and mileage records, the file is essentially a proprietary container. Users often struggle because they cannot open these files on a desktop PC to analyze their fuel economy in spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel. In reality, this file is often just a renamed ZIP archive containing CSV files.
Another frequent use (25%) is within the maker community, where .ABP files store visual programming blocks for ArduBlock, a plugin for the Arduino IDE. These are XML text files describing logic blocks. The friction here is that an .ABP file is not directly compilable by Arduino hardware; it must be loaded back into the specific ArduBlock environment to generate the necessary C++ code.
Less commonly, you may encounter this format as an OCR project file from ABBYY FineReader, which locks scanned document data into a proprietary working format rather than a portable PDF.
Conversion Strategies:
For aCar Backups: The most practical approach is to rename the extension from .ABP to ZIP. This allows you to extract the internal CSV data for use in Excel or Google Sheets.
For ArduBlock: These should be converted to standard INO (Arduino Sketch) files via the IDE for actual hardware deployment, or viewed as XML if you simply need to inspect the code structure textually.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ABP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ABP file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use aCar or similar software from the "Android App Data Backup" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ABP, try aCar or another comparable tool in the "Android App Data Backup" category.
The ABP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ABP converter.
