Convert a file to ABP
To convert other file formats to the "App Data & Backup" file type, you need software like aCar or a similar tool.
About ABP files
The .ABP file extension is most commonly used for two completely different purposes: as a vehicle management data backup generated by the aCar Android app, or as an XML-based visual programming file used by ArduBlock for the Arduino IDE. Other enterprise software, such as ABBYY FineReader and ELATEC RFID readers, also use .ABP for OCR project databases and configuration files.
The primary disadvantage of the .ABP format is extension collision. Because entirely unrelated applications share the same extension, standard operating systems fail to route the file to the correct program. A user attempting to open an aCar backup might accidentally try to open it in a text editor, resulting in garbled text. Furthermore, ABBYY project files are highly proprietary and locked to their expensive software ecosystem, meaning standard online converters will instantly reject them.
Depending on the file's true origin, the best conversion targets are ZIP (to extract the internal database from an aCar backup) or XML and TXT (to read the raw code of an ArduBlock program). This file format is difficult to open or convert blindly. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a standard ZIP container or XML tree - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ABP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ABP file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use aCar or similar software from the "App Backup and Project Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ABP, try aCar or another comparable tool in the "App Backup and Project Data" category.
The ABP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ABP converter.
