Convert a file to 4QR

To convert other file formats to the "Report Template" file type, you need software like 4D or a similar tool.

About 4QR files

A .4qr file is a proprietary report definition created by 4D (formerly 4th Dimension), a relational database management system. These files function as blueprints - they store the layout, calculations, and queries needed to generate a report, but they typically do not contain the actual database records themselves.

Because the file is merely a template dependent on a connected 4DB database file, you cannot simply "convert" a .4qr file to XLSX or PDF using a standard online converter. The file requires the 4D engine to execute the query and populate the report with live data.

Best Practice for Conversion:
To convert this file, you must open it within the 4D environment. From the Quick Report editor, you can generate the report and then export the results to HTML, Text (.TXT), or print directly to PDF. If you do not have access to the original 4D database application, the .4qr file is effectively unusable.

Convert.Guru analyzes your 4QR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted 4ST, 4DL and 4DF files.

The 4QR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our 4QR converter.
