About ZXU files

The .zxu file extension is a specialized data container for scuba diving logs, formatted according to the DAN DL7 (Divers Alert Network) standard. These files are typically generated by DiverLog (formerly by Pelagic Pressure Systems, now associated with Aqualung and Oceanic) or the universal logbook tool Diving Log 6.0.

A .zxu file captures high-resolution telemetry from a dive computer, including depth profiles, temperature changes, gas mixtures (Nitrox/Trimix), and ascent rates. While the underlying DL7 format was originally designed for medical decompression research, it is now often used as a legacy export format.

Users frequently encounter friction because .zxu files are not natively supported by standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or modern web-based dive communities. To visualize the data, share it on social platforms, or archive it simply, users must convert .zxu files to UDDF (Universal Dive Data Format) for compatibility, CSV for analysis, or PDF for printing physical logbook pages.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ZXU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted KSS, BEF and RSF files.

The ZXU Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZXU converter.
