About ZW files
The .ZW file extension is primarily associated with Zooper Widget, a once-popular but now discontinued Android customization tool developed by MYCOLORSCREEN. These files act as compressed containers (templates) that store all the assets required to render a custom home screen widget, including fonts (TTF), bitmapped images (PNG), and XML layout configurations.
The main challenge users face today is that Zooper Widget was removed from the Google Play Store around 2017, leaving users with "orphaned" .ZW files they cannot easily open or edit. Since the proprietary app is no longer supported on modern Android versions, the file appears as an unusable binary to most users.
Fortunately, the .ZW format is technically just a renamed ZIP archive. To recover your designs or assets, the most pragmatic solution is to rename the file extension from .zw to zip. This allows you to open it with standard tools like 7-Zip or WinRAR. Once extracted, you can view the internal JPG and PNG assets or use the raw resources to manually rebuild the widget in modern alternatives like KWGT.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ZW file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use Zooper Widget or similar software from the "Android Widget Template" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to ZW, try Zooper Widget or another comparable tool in the "Android Widget Template" category.
The ZW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZW converter.
