Convert ZML to another file type
To convert ZML XML files to another format, you need ZModeler or other Compressed software.
Convert a file to ZML
To convert other file formats to the "Compressed XML Archive" file type, you need software like ZModeler or a similar tool.
About ZML files
A .ZML file is most commonly a Zipped Markup Language archive containing compressed XML data. This format is widely used by applications like ZModeler to store 3D modeling configurations or game modding metadata efficiently. Alternatively, the .ZML extension is used as an XML-based school report card data file generated by GS-Zeugnis (GrundSchulSoftware Jansen), or occasionally as a Zooming Markup Language file created by Zoomorama.
The main disadvantage of a .ZML file is its ambiguity and reliance on specific host software. A regular user cannot open it directly by double-clicking. German teachers using GS-Zeugnis often struggle to share these report card files with parents, as the proprietary format requires the original software to view the student's grades. For the ZModeler variant, the XML data is essentially locked inside a ZIP wrapper, making it unreadable to standard text editors without manual decompression.
To overcome these limitations, converting the GS-Zeugnis report card variant to PDF is highly recommended for easy sharing and printing. For the zipped XML variant, you should convert or extract the contents to a standard ZIP archive or directly to readable XML text files.
Because .ZML files are often proprietary or use niche compression methods, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Drag and drop your .ZML file into convert.guru to see what it is and convert it if supported. If our analysis detects the underlying ZIP or XML structure, viewing or extracting the content may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ZML file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use ZModeler or similar software from the "Compressed XML Data Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to ZML, try ZModeler or another comparable tool in the "Compressed XML Data Archive" category.
The ZML Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZML converter.
