The .ZM3 file format primarily functions as an input recording - specifically, a ZSNES Movie #3 file. It is created by the ZSNES Super Nintendo emulator when a player saves a gameplay recording to the third slot. Alternatively, a .ZM3 file can be a quarantined email attachment. Check Point's ZoneAlarm security software deliberately renames potentially risky NCH (Microsoft Outlook Express) files to .ZM3 to prevent them from executing.
If your file is an emulator recording, you need the original ZSNES software and the exact game ROM used during the session. If it is a quarantined ZoneAlarm file, the original data can only be accessed by renaming the extension back to NCH and opening it with an appropriate program.
Users frequently try to convert .ZM3 emulator files into standard video formats to upload online. However, these files are completely proprietary and lack real pixel or audio data.
