About XWP files

The .XWP file format functions primarily as an XWidget Package. It contains the visual and functional components needed to deploy custom desktop widgets via the XWidget software engine. Under the hood, these files are standard ZIP archives housing web-style assets like PNG images, XML layout files, and executable JS or VBS scripts. A secondary, highly technical application for .XWP files is as a plot layout generated by Bruker XWinPlot software, widely used in NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectroscopy.

Users often struggle with .XWP files because they are rigidly tied to their parent applications. The XWidget format forces users to install a third-party engine just to view the widget, which poses a security risk since the embedded scripts can execute arbitrary code on your system. On the scientific side, the Bruker XWinPlot format is a closed, proprietary file requiring expensive, niche software to open. This makes sharing raw NMR layout files with non-equipped colleagues virtually impossible.

If you are dealing with an XWidget package, the best conversion target is a standard ZIP archive. By extracting it, you safely access the raw PNG graphics and XML code without running potentially malicious scripts. For Bruker files, native export to PDF or PS (PostScript) is the only reliable way to share the plots.

Because formats like the Bruker NMR plots are proprietary, they are exceptionally difficult to process. Standard online converters fail to process them because they lack the proprietary rendering engines. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format - like the ZIP structure of an XWidget package - we can extract and convert the internal assets for you instantly.

Convert.Guru analyzes your XWP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TAR, OPK and GPK files.
