About XMM files

.XMM files primarily function as XML data modules for Bible study applications like e-Sword and MySword, or as XML Map Templates for MindManager. For Bible software, the .XMM format stores verses, commentary, and dictionary entries structured in plain XML. Alternatively, MindManager uses the .XMM extension for templates to standardize mind map layouts. In this case, the file is actually a ZIP archive containing nested XML documents. These files suffer from strict proprietary lock-in. If you lack the specific, niche application - like an e-Sword installation or a paid MindManager license - a raw .XMM file is virtually inaccessible. While you can force open the text-based variants in a code editor, the raw XML tags make reading the actual content a frustrating, cluttered experience.
