A .xlshtml file is a web-based spreadsheet exported by Microsoft Excel to display tabular data in web browsers. While it uses standard web languages, the format is highly problematic. Microsoft injects thousands of lines of bloated, proprietary XML namespaces and VML (Vector Markup Language) into the HTML structure. This dramatically inflates the file size. Furthermore, exporting to .XLSHTML degrades the original data: active formulas become static text, and macros are completely stripped. Because the code relies on closed Microsoft Office schemas, standard HTML parsers and generic online converters usually fail to extract the spreadsheet data correctly. To regain usability, you should convert the file to XLSX for full spreadsheet editing or CSV for pure data extraction.
