About XISE files

A .XISE file is the main project file for the legacy Xilinx ISE Design Suite (versions 11 through 14.7). It uses XML formatting to store project properties, synthesis settings, and references to source code files like VHD (VHDL), V (Verilog), and UCF (User Constraints).

Users typically need to convert or inspect .XISE files because the ISE software is discontinued and notoriously difficult to run on modern operating systems like Windows 10 or 11 (often requiring a Virtual Machine). Furthermore, the modern AMD Vivado suite cannot open .XISE files directly.

Practical Conversion Targets:

Convert.Guru analyzes your XISE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted BSF, WCFG and WFP files.

The XISE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XISE converter.
