The .XFN file is a legacy printer font format originally developed for Ventura Publisher. It was primarily used by early desktop publishing (DTP) software to send typographical data and glyph rendering instructions directly to compatible hardware printers, such as vintage Xerox laser printers.
Historically, users managed these files within Corel Ventura, a pioneering page layout application for MS-DOS and early Windows environments. The core disadvantage of the .XFN format today is its severe obsolescence. It is a strictly proprietary format, unsupported by modern operating systems, and cannot be installed via the standard Windows or macOS font managers.
