About X2M files
A .X2M file is a specialized mod package used to install custom characters, skills, and costumes into the game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Developed by the modding community (specifically for the XV2 Mods Installer), these files contain game assets like 3D models (EMB, EMD), textures (DYT), and scripts wrapped in an XML configuration.
The catch for users is that .X2M files are proprietary containers designed solely for the installer tool; they cannot be opened by the game directly nor by standard image viewers. If you try to double-click one without the installer, Windows will not recognize it. However, because the underlying architecture is simply a compressed archive, you can easily "convert" or inspect an .X2M file by treating it as a ZIP. This allows modders to verify contents, extract specific texture assets for editing in Photoshop, or manually merge conflicting mods without relying on the automated installer.
Convert.Guru analyzes your X2M file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The X2M Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our X2M converter.
