About WWP files

The .WWP file extension is primarily associated with two distinct formats: a building engineering project file used by WinWatt software, and a legacy document created by Microsoft Works Word Processor. WinWatt files store complex building physics data, such as heat loss calculations and HVAC specifications. Microsoft Works .WWP files contain formatted text, page layouts, and graphics stored in the Microsoft Compound File architecture.

Legacy formats like Microsoft Works present severe access challenges. Microsoft discontinued Works in 2007, meaning modern operating systems, mobile devices, and web browsers cannot natively read these files. They are proprietary and effectively obsolete. WinWatt files face similar hurdles because they require expensive, highly specialized engineering software to open. Without an active license for the original program, the engineering data is completely locked away.

For Microsoft Works files, the best conversion targets are DOCX or PDF. Converting to DOCX allows you to edit the legacy text, though complex page layouts or embedded OLE objects will likely break or disappear. Converting to PDF is the best choice for long-term visual archiving. WinWatt project files cannot be easily converted into other engineering CAD or data formats; your best option is typically exporting a visual report to PDF or raw data to CSV directly from within the WinWatt interface.

Because .WWP formats are either obsolete or strictly closed-ecosystem, standard online converters usually fail to process them. It is extremely difficult to extract raw data without the original software engine to interpret the proprietary binary structures. However, you can still find a workaround. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text structure or an embedded Microsoft Compound Document format, viewing the raw text or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your WWP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted WPP, WWD, QKT and BDB files.

The WWP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WWP converter.
