The .WVS file format is primarily used by KUKA WorkVisual to store comprehensive robot configuration, cell programming, and project engineering data. Alternatively, it serves as a web vulnerability scan session file generated by the Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner. A smaller percentage of these files are used for UV-Vis spectroscopy data in Agilent Cary WinUV software or as proprietary game audio files.
The main disadvantage of the .WVS format is its heavily proprietary and closed ecosystem. KUKA project files require the massive WorkVisual engineering suite to open, edit, or deploy code to a robot controller. Acunetix scan sessions (which rely on internal zlib compression) require an active, expensive software license to view the security reports. You cannot simply open these files in a text editor, and standard web browsers will not recognize them.
Converting a .WVS file directly into a universal format like PDF or XML is incredibly difficult outside of its native environment. Users typically need to export the raw controller code (like SRC or DAT files) from within WorkVisual, or export vulnerability reports to PDF or CSV from Acunetix. Standard online converters fail because they cannot interpret the proprietary internal schemas or decompress the specific data streams correctly without data loss.
