About WPX files

The .wpx extension serves two distinct, industrial purposes, creating significant confusion for users. Primarily, it is a Window and Door Order file generated by EKO4U software, used in the construction and joinery industry to store project specifications, dimensions, and material orders. These files are typically text-based (UTF-8) but are structurally complex and not designed for human reading. Alternatively, a .wpx file may be a WellCAD Picture Log created by WellCAD (Advanced Logic Technology). These are high-precision geological logs used to visualize borehole data in mining and energy sectors.

The Problem: Both formats are strictly proprietary. You cannot open an EKO4U order or a WellCAD log in standard tools like Microsoft Excel or Notepad without seeing garbled code or raw data. Users often receive these files expecting a printable document (like a quote or a chart) but find themselves locked out without the specific originating software ($$$).

The Solution:

For Window Orders: The best approach is to ask the sender to export the project as a PDF or DXF (for CAD use) directly from EKO4U or FP-Pro.
For WellCAD Logs: Use the WellCAD Reader (if available) to view the log, or convert it to TIFF, PDF, or standard LAS (Log ASCII Standard) for data interoperability.
For Winprogitel: If the file is an electrical project, it may simply be a renamed ZIP file - try renaming the extension to inspect the contents.
