Extract text from sketches and images (WPI)
To convert WPI images to another format, you need Corel Presentations or other Vector Image software.
To convert other file formats to the "Legacy Presentation Image File" file type, you need software like Corel Presentations or a similar tool.
The .WPI file extension is primarily associated with WordPerfect Presentations Image files used by Corel, or Inkling Sketch Binary Files generated by the Wacom Inkling digital pen. It is also historically tied to Ward-Pro drawing files on the Commodore 64 and encrypted video tutorials produced by Web Pro India.
Because multiple, completely unrelated applications use the same .WPI extension, these files are notoriously frustrating to handle. The major disadvantage of the .WPI format is its proprietary nature. A Wacom sketch file contains raw vector stroke data that only the Inkling Sketch Manager understands. An encrypted video tutorial requires a specific proprietary media player and a valid license key, meaning you cannot natively play it in standard applications. Furthermore, legacy WordPerfect graphics are not supported by modern web browsers or default operating system image viewers.
If your .WPI file is an image or a sketch, the best conversion targets are universal formats like SVG for vectors, or PNG and JPG for raster graphics. For Wacom files, converting to SVG is critical to retain stroke editability. Unfortunately, if your file is an encrypted video tutorial, standard converters will fail because the data is intentionally scrambled for DRM protection.
This file format is difficult to open or convert because standard software cannot decipher the proprietary binary structures or bypass the DRM encryption.
