About WOWSREPLAY files
A .wowsreplay file is a proprietary telemetry and game event record generated by the naval combat game World of Warships, developed by Wargaming.net. It captures network traffic, player coordinates, ship actions, and RNG seeds to recreate a battle in real-time.
Because this format is not a standard media file, it carries significant disadvantages. It does not contain actual video pixels or audio tracks, meaning files are small (usually under 5MB) but completely unreadable by media players like VLC or web browsers. Furthermore, .wowsreplay files are strictly version-dependent. If the game receives an update, old replays usually break and cannot be opened without rolling back the client to an older version.
Converting a .wowsreplay directly to video formats like MP4, AVI, or WEBM using a standard online converter is impossible. These converters lack the 3D game engine required to render the graphics. The only realistic solution to convert these files into a shareable video format is to play the replay inside the actual World of Warships client and record your screen using capture software like OBS Studio or NVIDIA ShadowPlay.
Despite these strict limitations, this is a closed, proprietary format that often embeds readable metadata. While we cannot render naval battles into video, our analysis can often extract the hidden JSON blocks in the file headers, allowing you to read player names, map data, and match statistics without launching the game.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WOWSREPLAY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
