About WME files
The .WME file extension primarily represents an HMI (Human-Machine Interface) project library file used by legacy Wizcon Wizmate SCADA software. It stores interface layouts, control logic, and industrial automation parameters. A secondary use is as a Windows Media Encoder Session File created by Microsoft, which saves encoding profiles, input sources, and output destinations for legacy audio and video streaming. Both formats are proprietary and tied to obsolete or highly specialized software. This creates a severe lock-in effect. These files cannot be natively opened by modern web browsers or universal viewers. Converting a .WME file into a functional modern format is practically impossible without the original software, as the internal data structures are typically undocumented. Standard online converters fail because they lack the specific decoders for Wizmate or Windows Media Encoder. Your best conversion targets are readable formats like TXT, XML, or PDF just to extract the raw configuration text or metadata.
