The .WLB file extension is highly fragmented and used by entirely different systems. Most commonly, it represents a Barcode Label Design created by WinLabel software, containing proprietary vector layouts, text fields, and barcode symbologies meant for thermal printers. In the telematics and logistics industry, .WLB is used as a Binary Wialon Message file, which acts as a blackbox GPS log for Teltonika vehicle tracking devices. Finally, it can also be a WinList Protocol Bundle from Verity Software House, used in flow cytometry data analysis.
Because these formats are deeply proprietary, standard desktop applications cannot open them. If a supplier sends you a .WLB barcode design, you are held hostage to installing obscure, legacy printing software just to see what the label looks like. For Teltonika GPS logs, the telemetry data is trapped inside a compiled binary format, creating an annoying roadblock for logistics managers who just need a simple spreadsheet.
