About WJR files

The .WJR file is a data storage file originally created by ReGet Deluxe, a popular Windows download manager during the Windows XP and Vista eras. These files act as a local database to store active download queues, file histories, site passwords, and configuration preferences.

To natively open or modify a .WJR file, you need the original ReGet software. However, because ReGet Software has been discontinued for over a decade, running the application on modern operating systems like Windows 10 or 11 is nearly impossible without using a virtual machine.

Users typically need to convert .WJR files because they contain valuable lists of URLs, FTP links, and download histories locked inside a dead proprietary format. The primary disadvantage of the .WJR format is its complete lack of interoperability; modern download managers cannot import it, and standard text editors often display garbled binary characters when attempting to read the file. Furthermore, older versions of ReGet had known buffer overflow vulnerabilities linked to processing malicious .WJR files.

If you are trying to rescue your download links, the best conversion targets are universal text formats like TXT, CSV, or XML. Extracting the data to these formats will strip away ReGet-specific configuration rules (such as download speed limits and scheduler settings), but it guarantees you can recover the raw URLs and import them into modern alternatives.

Because .WJR is a closed, proprietary data format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your WJR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted REGET, BRH and EVY files.

The WJR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WJR converter.
