About WICK files

A .wick file serves as the proprietary project container for The Wick Editor, a free, open-source creation tool heavily inspired by Adobe Flash. These files store the raw "source code" of your creative work - including vector drawings, bitmap assets, audio clips, and JavaScript code used for interactivity.

Because .wick files are project sources rather than final output formats, they cannot be played directly in media players like VLC or uploaded to video hosting sites like YouTube. A common downside for users is attempting to share a .wick file expecting the recipient to just "watch" it; instead, the recipient must load it into the editor environment. Furthermore, as a web-centric format, large projects can sometimes face loading issues in browser-based instances of the editor due to memory limits.

To make your project accessible, you typically need to convert it based on your end goal. For web publishing, the standard workflow is converting to HTML (HTML5 Canvas). For social media or video archiving, projects should be rendered to MP4 video or animated GIF. If you simply need to recover a lost image or sound file from within a corrupt project, the .wick format is internally a ZIP archive; renaming the extension to zip allows you to extract raw assets without opening the editor.

Convert.Guru analyzes your WICK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FLA, ZIP, WEBP and MP4 files.
