The .wgt extension primarily represents a Tizen Web Widget, a compressed application package used by Samsung Smart TVs, wearables (Galaxy Watch), and the Tizen OS. These files are actually standard ZIP archives containing HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript code, along with a config.xml manifest. Users typically encounter these when developing apps or manually installing software on Tizen devices. The main challenge is that operating systems do not recognize .wgt as an archive by default, preventing users from inspecting the source code or extracting assets. To access the contents, you can simply rename the file extension from .wgt to zip and open it with any archiver like 7-Zip or WinRAR.
A secondary but notable use case involves Traveller's Tales games (e.g., LEGO Star Wars), where .wgt files are often uncompressed RIFF audio files. In this context, the file is functionally identical to a WAV file but lacks the standard extension, causing playback errors in media players.
