Extract text from Watch Face Studio projects (WFS)

To convert other file formats to the "Watch Face Project Archive" file type, you need software like Watch Face Studio or a similar tool.
The .WFS file extension is most commonly associated with Watch Face Studio, a development tool by Samsung used to design watch faces for Wear OS smartwatches. These files act as project containers that store images, layouts, and application logic. Less commonly, .WFS files represent waveform data files generated by Instron materials testing systems, or location data log files for the Express-8 positioning system.
If you have a smartwatch design file, you can open it using Watch Face Studio. For Instron materials testing files, specialized engineering software is required to read the raw waveform data.
Users often need to convert .WFS files because they are tied to proprietary ecosystems. Instron waveform files require an expensive software license to read, making data sharing with clients or colleagues difficult. Watch Face Studio projects are entirely proprietary and not supported by web browsers or standard image editors.
For Watch Face projects, the most realistic workaround is extraction. Since the file is fundamentally a compressed archive, you can rename the extension to ZIP to access the underlying PNG graphics and XML layout files. For Instron data, converting the proprietary data to standard CSV or TXT is the best target format so you can plot the waveforms in spreadsheet software.
