About WER files
Windows Error Reporting (WER) file types are used to capture information about application errors and other system problems. WER files are usually stored in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue
folder and have the .wer
or .hdmp
extension. These files are created by the Windows Error Reporting (WER) service and contain information about the application that crashed, including the version, module name, and exception code. WER files can be used to troubleshoot system problems, but they are not easy to read or interpret.
Converting WER files can be challenging, as the files are not in a standard format and the data is not easily readable. Some software, such as various tools and WERCon, can be used to view and analyze WER files. However, these tools do not provide an easy way to convert WER files to other formats.
The drawbacks of using WER files include the difficulty in reading and interpreting the data, as well as the lack of an easy way to convert them to other formats. For these reasons, it is often better to use a free and easy online website such as Convert.Guru to convert WER files.
The WER Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began more than 25 years ago in California, when Tom Simondi published the most comprehensive database of file formats on his website. Before that, Tom had worked on Space Shuttle development at the Air Force Systems Command’s Space Division in Los Angeles. He is known as one of the top programmers of the late 1980s.
When Microsoft integrated Tom’s Filext database into Windows XP, it became the leading platform for analyzing and processing file types and formats.
Today, we use the latest technologies to analyze, process, and convert one of the world's largest collections of file formats. We are committed to developing the best WER converter by continuously improving quality, usability, and reliability.
